Les critères d’admissibilité provinciaux pour la Nouvelle-Écosse, le Nouveau-Brunswick et l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard sont fournis par le Collège des Médecins et chirurgiens de la Nouvelle-Écosse, le Collège des médecins et chirurgiens du Nouveau-Brunswick et le Collège des médecins et chirurgiens de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard et sont seulement disponible en anglais (sauf le CMCNB qui offre les critères d’admissibilité en français).

TRAINING LEVEL ELIGIBILITY | All Pediatrics residents in ACGME-accredited Pediatrics programs who are interested in applying for a Pediatrics subspecialty program in Canada will need to have their training assessed by the RCPSC in comparison to Canadian training.

Training Program Dalhousie University will also consider Canadian Citizens and those with permanent resident status who are currently in an accredited United States Pediatric Medicine Training program, but a copy of the candidate’s RCPSC Assessment of Training must be provided at the time of application. All applicants must be eligible to register for an educational license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. A requirement for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia is that graduates of non-LCME or CACMS-accredited medical schools must include proof, as part of the completed license application, that verification through Physicians Apply has been initiated. |

RESTRICTIONS | Not eligible:
COVID-19 vaccination COVID-19 vaccination is currently required for all healthcare workers in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI by public health order. As long as that order remains in effect, candidates who electively choose not to be vaccinated against COVID-19 are not eligible to work, and therefore, ineligible for training. |

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS |
Legal Status Graduates of Non-LCME/CACMS-Accredited Medical Schools (GNLCAMS) must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of application. CaRMS is partnering with third-party organizations to automate the verification of citizenship/legal status required by postgraduate offices for entry into residency. Third-party verification simplifies the process for applicants and programs. All applicants who do not receive third-party citizenship verification will be required to upload and assign an acceptable proof of citizenship document. Please see additional information here. |
ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR CANADIAN MEDICAL GRADUATEA Canadian Medical Graduate (CMG) or U.S. Allopathic Medical Graduate (USMG) is an individual who received their medical degree from a medical school accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). |

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUATESAn International Medical Graduate (IMG) is an individual who received their medical degree from a medical school that is listed with the World Directory of Medical Schools (World Directory) published by the Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) and the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). A U.S. Osteopathic Medical Graduate (USMG- Osteo) is an individual who received their medical degree from an accredited Osteopathic medical school. |

MEDICAL COUNCIL OF CANADA EXAMS | Examination: MCCQE Part I
The province will accept the following in place of the MCCQE Part I:
Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) Levels 1 and 2. |
RETURN OF SERVICE (ROS) REQUIREMENTS | Any candidate who has an undischarged Return of Service (ROS) must disclose such obligations at time of application. |
MEDICAL EDUCATION | Proof of MD Degree or DO Degree (Osteopathic medicine)
Graduates of Non-LCME or CACMS-Accredited Medical Schools (GNLCAMS) must be a graduate of an acceptable medical school or a graduate of a US school of Osteopathic Medicine and must meet provincial licensing eligibility in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. A copy of medical/osteopathy school marks/transcripts and medical degree/diploma must be submitted. Documents that are not in English must be accompanied by a notarized translation. |
